A solid option for those looking for a Jazzmaster hard case on a budget

A solid option for those looking for a Jazzmaster hard case on a budget
If you’re like me and have been searching for a decent hard case for a Jazzmaster but can’t find any on Facebook marketplace because they’re uncommon and don’t want to spend $150-$250 on the Gator/SKB/Fender equivalent, I’m writing this review for you!I got this case on sale for around $75-$80 after tax. That’s a good price on a new hard case whether for a common or uncommon guitar body style. While it’s allegedly designed to be intended for a Tele/Strat I had seen some reviews stating this case was just barely big enough to fit a Jazzmaster so I decided to give it a go. I’ve been working on this guitar for a bit making big upgrades and is now at a point where it’s ‘worth’ enough to require a hard case in my opinion, but it’s not a guitar I felt the need to invest over $200 on a premium case option.Received this ChromaCast case yesterday and have so far been relatively pleased. The overall fit and finish on the exterior is good and seems to be built and designed pretty well. The latches, while not heavy duty at all, do work and will do the job. (There is a key included for the lock feature which I won’t use) While I would certainly never throw this case off a balcony and expect it would protect my guitar from all harm, it seems like it’s protective enough for my uses. For reference, those uses are hauling around my church building, in and out of my car, maybe a gig or two here or there. As for the interior, also not too bad. The padding is ample enough and will provide some good shock absorption. For what it’s worth, because the Jazzmaster body is wider than a Tele/Strat, it is more of a snug fit which probably will be better in the long run. It is too snug, however, by the strap button nearest the neck. The way I’m dealing with it for now, as you see in the pictures, is by essentially ‘stabbing’ the cushy wall with the strap button. I may modify later to add a little room but it seems ok for now. The storage compartment is a little small in my opinion for how much room there is in the case. It will be fine for my needs, but if you’re looking to have more gigging supplies in a guitar case you won’t have much to work with in this one. I was pleased to see the headstock wasn’t bumping right up against the wall of the case. When I went to close the case I wanted to make sure the fit wasn’t weird enough to where the top would put pressure down on the headstock when closed. No issues there. Note for Mastery trem users: I follow their instructions to leave the arm installed and close the case with it on. No issues there either. The case is low profile and may appear like it would drive the trem arm into the pickguard, but that one checks out ok as well.About the only thing I would have a ‘complaint’ about is when standing the case up on its long edge. I use cases in this way all the time. There may be some variance from case to case with these, but mine did not stand up straight. To compensate I added some stick-on rubber feet I had laying around to level it out. It’s not perfect but a surprisingly quick fix to the issue. If I didn’t address that and left it as is, it’s not that the case tips over when standing on edge but it’s not far from it. Overall, not a surprising quirk for the price of the case. I’m still giving the case 5 stars as it’s still a great deal with, what I consider to be, a very playable injury. At the end of the day, this really is a solid buy. I may buy another one for a Tele I have that doesn’t have a hard case yet. As I stated before, if you’re looking for a new and budget-friendly hard case for your super sweet Jazzmaster, this case really checks the boxes!

This case is very sturdy and well made. The soft plush lining will protect your guitar. The fit is perfect. It's tight enough that there isn't any room for movement of the guitar but not so tight that you have the force the guitar into the case. It is priced well below similar cases. I have checked all the major suppliers Musicians Friend, Guitar Center, Sweetwater, eBay, and Sam Ash and l found the best deal right here on Amazon. There once was a time when you could get a decent guitar case from Musicians Friend for $49 but those days are long gone. I liked it so well that I bought another one.
It comes with 2 keys although I never lock any of my guitar cases.
I give this guitar case my highest recommendation. Supplies are limited so don't wait. Buy one while you still can. I have a hunch the price will increase.

Very nice case fits my Telecaster well. I use this for moderate local gigging. Would recommend and buy again. ( I currently have three.) Note - One negative. On this last order of two cases they both arrived locked. Luckily, I have the keys from other case! Must be some smartass at the factory.

I was having an LP body guitar being built and I needed a case. This one looked like a great deal online but it didn't quite make it for me. Construction quality is great, handle is very comfy, and the fit and finish of the outside was immaculate. The hardware is sold and straight. It always pisses me off that you pay $$$$ for a really good guitar and the hinge or latch on the case isn't even on straight. Is that really a difficult task. Anyway, this one had great fit and finish on the outside but the inside wasn't as sumptuous as the pictures indicated. The padding is adequate but I always think a guitar case cut for a particular body should hold it in tight. In this one, the valley between the upper and lower bouts have pretty big gaps making the guitar kind of move around. If they just made the inside as nicely appointed as the outside, I would have given it 5 stars.

I was impressed with the construction of the case. The vinyl covering on the outside was firmly attached all the way around as well as the thick velour type material on the inside being attached just as well. I put both my Strat and my LP inside(not at the same time, of course) and each of them fit with room to spare. depth-wise, I couldn't say if a hollow body electric would fit since each of my electrics are solid body and they each take up most of the space with the case closed. There's a wood divider on the bottom half that goes under the neck and separates the bottom half of the case and creates two compartments with the case closed. The divider has a shallow space cut from it to cradle the neck, with a dense foam pad attached under the velour material where the neck rests. The inside of the top has a long foam pad running lengthwise under the velour lining which touches the whole neck when closed, holding the guitar snugly between top and bottom halves. There's a lidded compartment inside the case next to the neck to store a few small things like a set of strings, picks, capo, tuner, and other similar stuff. In addition, there's still room enough to wrap a blanket around the guitar if it happens to be a little small, or you just want it packed a little tighter. Still yet, there's also room on the other side of the neck for a few small, light things you could wrap a t-shirt around so they won't rattle around and damage the finish on the guitar. That leaves my only negative comment which is the lock. Every lock I've seen and operated on a guitar case is not worth the effort to lock which is why I won't subtract a star for the cheap lock on this case. It shouldn't be too hard to change it if you really want to. I don't use the locks. I use luggage straps to keep my cases closed when I travel.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Value & Maximum Size in Price Range

Love the latches! Thought they might be the kind with spring hasps that break or wear out easily. But they are over-latch rings which are usually more durable. Needed this case for a custom built bass that is a little too long for most gig bags or cases but this fits perfectly. I gave 4/5 stars on sturdiness only because there are probably sturdier materials that could be used in the walls without increasing the cost too much so that the case would be good for checked airline baggage. But overall and for my purposes in this price range, it’s perfect.

Not much to complain about here at all. Arrived extremely quickly, fits my Strat perfectly. Inside is nice and plush, keeps the guitar secure. I spun it upside down, around, every which way, and the guitar doesn't move an inch. The inside compartment is nice for storing the tremolo arm, spare picks, capo, string winder, strings, pens, etc. Lots of room in there. I even leave songbooks and a notebook in the headstock area sometimes if I need to carry them around.

The clasps aren't ultra secure, and I don't particularly trust the lock. It works just fine, but I feel like somebody who cared enough could break them in about a minute. Then again, you're not storing collectors pieces in a $70 case.

Materials look sturdy enough. I wouldn't carry a guitar on the road 365 days a year with this thing, but for moving to house-to-house and general storage, you can't beat it.

If >$200 is your budget for a case, look no further.

Great fit... looks good, fits my strat well.
Rear hinges seem sloppy and loose or maybe just cheaply made.
For the price I like it.
