John Petrucci’s rig consists of a variety of rare gear that can be difficult to obtain. All of his main effects originate from the Fractal Audio Axe-Fx, however his setup does also feature pedals like the Boss Dimension-C which apparently have all been removed from circulation.
His main sound originates from two 1 x 12 Mesa/Boogie rectifier cabinets that are placed off stage. He uses a stereo configuration, with the Axe-Fx as a stereo split. The entire band (Dream Theater) uses in-ear monitoring. All amps that you see on stage are not real (hollow), except for an additional 2 rectifier cabinets that run at a very low volume. Petrucci uses them as feedback producers / footrests and to give his guitar allowance to interact with itself.
